Laser & CNC Jobs
Materials your desktop machine can't touch
Thick acrylic, hardwood, anodised aluminium, stainless. Fiber marking, rotary work and 3-axis routing on call.
A 40 W diode is wonderful until the brief says 18 mm walnut or a serial number annealed into stainless. Send the vector and the material spec; we pick the machine, cut the test coupon, and only then run the batch.
- CO₂ up to 25 mm acrylic and 20 mm hardwood
- Fiber marking and deep engraving on metal — annealed black or etched
- Rotary jigs for tumblers, bottles and cylindrical stock
- 3-axis CNC routing for jigs, fixtures and sign blanks
How the job runs
Every step, and who carries the risk at each one
- 01
Send the vector
Plus the material and thickness you have in mind. If you only have a sketch or a photo, the File Prep Studio can redraw it as a cuttable vector first.
- 02
Test coupon
Every new material and thickness combination gets a test cut before the batch — power, speed, kerf width and edge quality, all recorded against your job.
- 03
Nesting
We lay your parts out to minimise sheet count. Typical saving against a naive layout is 15–30%, and that saving is yours, not ours.
- 04
Cut and finish
Cut, deburr, and remove masking. Hardwood gets a light sand; acrylic keeps its flame-polished edge.

FAQ
About laser & cnc jobs
Do you supply the material?
Usually, from the Material Bench, which is cheaper than you sourcing four sheets at retail. You can also send your own stock — we'll run the test coupon on it first and tell you if it cuts badly.
How accurate is the kerf compensation?
We measure it per material and thickness on the test coupon, typically landing between 0.10 and 0.25 mm. For friction-fit joinery we'll cut a fit test before committing the batch.
Can you cut anything you're sent?
No. We won't cut PVC, polycarbonate, or anything with chlorine or unknown coatings — it produces gas that destroys the machine and the operator. If we're unsure what a material is, we decline.
Can you engrave on something I post you?
Yes. Send the blanks and the artwork. We'll jig them, mark one, photograph it for approval, then run the rest.
