Kettle & Kerf
@kettleandkerf · Bristol, UK · Laser & hardwood
Kitchen tools and tabletop objects cut from offcut hardwood, finished by hand, engraved so the grain still reads.
Started with a 40 W diode on a garage bench and a pile of walnut offcuts from a local joinery. The first spice rack sold to a neighbour; the fortieth sold to a restaurant group that wanted four hundred. Creasum took over cutting and finishing so the design work could stay at the bench.
On the bench
- CO₂ 100 W
- Rotary axis
- Random-orbit finishing
- Hand oiling
